Indian Banquet at 42, The Living Room

Thursday's Indian Banquet at 42 The Living Room was a delight for all the senses. Wild Goose gourmets aka Alice Rollinson constantly surprises us with her creative cooking flair and ballsy flavour pairings.

Guests were welcomed to a Bindi on the forehead and a Mango jal Muri with tamarind and damson chutney cones before being seated for the fun start to the evening with a Gol Gappa Bar of Pani Puri with Pomegranate and cumin raita, with a variety of bottles of pineapple, damson, mint coriander or tamarind pani to pour over the filling of pomegranate, chic pea and crunchy mix before devouring the entire ball (Pani Puri) in one bite. There is just something so pleasing about this immersive experience.

Following on was a Thali of

- Masala Pollock (local from Seabourne Fish in Penryn)

- Rose and Fennel Rice

- Butternut squash and Coconut Beans

- Tomato salad

- Beet and Chilli relish

- Fermented carrot and mustard

- Sag Paneer

It was all so flavoursome and truly tasty.

Then the trio of desserts came out and it sent me to 7th heaven.

- Orange and Chai Keer Komolo

- Dark Chocolate covered Puri with a pomegranate and rosewater chocolate ganache inside (this was sensational)

- Rhubarb and Ginger Kulfi with cardamom snow (this took me to a happy place, fond childhood memories of my Nannas cardamom syrup she used to make to dip into with my Oupas' Koeksisers) I wish I could have had two of this course, it was all so wonderful.

42, The Living Room is a versatile space with many uses, Rachel and Tunde have created something pretty special in the heart of Helston, including some imaginative drinks.

42, also has a full working kitchen, lovely nooks and a flourishing garden that can embrace quite a few people for some alfresco events as well.

I'm looking forward to collaborating together again.

Thank you for allowing me to continue to bring people together over good food and conversations.
